Ruptured Bladder

During birth, an extreme amount of pressure is placed on a foal as it passes through the birth canal. Especially in colts, a full urinary bladder can become ruptured as the abdomen passes over the pelvic brim of the dam. The location of the tear is almost always on the top wall of the bladder.
